Make a donation
The single biggest challenge is funding.
Please make a one-off or monthly donation to Friends of Salaam Baalak Trust to help us directly support Salaam Baalak Trust on the ground in Delhi. Trustees of both charities together ensure the funds go where the need is currently most urgent.
Fundraise for us
Runners, riders, swimmers and trekkers; we'd love it if you could use your next challenge to raise funds for Friends of SBT.
More social than sporty? Quizzes, coffee mornings, wine-tasting or gala events are a fun way of generating donations for street children.
If you have a special celebration coming up, consider donations to Friends of SBT in lieu of gifts.
Unlike the big charities, we don't have a paid fundraising team so we rely on supporters like you to create your own event. It's easy though...
1. Decide on your challenge or event and set the date
2. Set up a fundraising page through CAF, GoFundMe, or the platform of your choice, nominating Friends of Salaam Balaak Trust as your charity.
Or, if you're hosting an in-person event and prefer to collect cash donations you can transfer them to Friends of SBT directly - just let us know.
3. Tell your friends, family and colleagues about your event and begin getting sponsorship or donations.
4. Tell us. We like to hear what our fundraisers are doing to help, and we can share your story to our website and social media.
Please email us at mail@friendsofsbt.org
5. Download this information sheet about Friends of Salaam Baalak Trust to share with your supporters.
Volunteer in the UK
Friends of SBT was set up more than ten years ago and we pride ourselves in being entirely run by volunteers, with no salaries to pay. Our small team meet regularly in person or via Zoom and would value your assistance, particularly if you have have a charity sector background or experience with fundraising, websites, communications, bid-writing or events. If you can spare a few hours each month and have the enthusiasm to help, we'd love to hear from you.
Volunteer in Delhi
SBT's successful history of welcoming volunteers from across the world has been hugely impacted by the pandemic. It's impossible to know when we can safely travel to India again but when that changes do consider the need for teachers, assistants, creatives, sports coaches and healthcare professionals in Delhi (min. 1 month commitment). The Friends of SBT Trustees have spent time in the thick of Delhi's streets and shelter homes so can recommend experiencing this first hand.
Spread the word
One of Friends of SBT's objectives is to raise awareness of the problems facing Indian street children, and to educate about the issues and hardships that runaways, orphans, working and addicted children are forced to struggle with on a daily basis. By coming to our website you have helped towards these goals. Tell one other person and we'll have gone even further.
Leave a legacy
By leaving a gift to Friends of SBT in your will, you can make a lasting difference to the lives of vulnerable street children in India.
As well as leaving estate or finances to family and loved ones, many people choose to support charities in this way. If this is something you could consider, or would like a little more information, please view our legacy factsheet here.
